This victory was their first in the competition and just fourth in their last 13 fixtures in all competitions this season. The win also eases the pressure on their manager Mauricio Pochettino for the time being at least.

Champions League: Pochettino's message for Spurs fans

While Tottenham had a dismal start to their Premier League campaign, the supporters repeatedly chanted their manager's name during Tuesday's emphatic win despite a dismal start to the season. Pochettino thanked Spurs fans and said that they love him and he thinks they need to feel that they love them too. But he thinks that the team is always the most important as the players are the principal actors and he is always here to help the club and want it to be a happy unit like it was in the previous season.

Champions League: Kane and Son Heung-Min bag brace

Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min both scored twice and Erik Lamela grabbed the other goal as Spurs recorded their first win, having picked up only a point from their opening two games. Red Star failed to match Spurs' intensity for much of the game as the scoreline rightly suggests. Pochettino couldn't have asked for more from his side, which blew the visitors away. A good attacking display that showed fluidity and rhythm along with solidity at the back was reminiscent of the old Spurs and might just shape up their season ahead.
