Chennaiyin FC are now the only side who are yet to score in the ISL this season. Their profligacy in front of goal has cost them yet again as they fell to ATK's on Wednesday night.

ISL: Chennaiyin FC vs ATK match report

Despite having a bulk of possession and creating a host of chances, Chennaiyin FC looked just as hapless in attack as they looked last season. Striker Nerijus Valskis could have scored for the home side just minutes after the game began but failed to keep his header down from close range. The first half was more or less the same picture as Chennaiyin FC continued their poor show in the final third while ATK struggled to settle into the game. The second half began with an early chance for ATK as a lapse in concentration by the home side allowed David Williams to break the deadlock in the 47th minute. A wonder strike by Edwin Vanspaul could have gone in on any other day, but it just felt like Chennaiyin FC were out of luck yet again. The game ended at 1-0 to ATK.

Chennaiyin FC manager John Gregory will have a lot of thinking to do after his side have failed to score a goal in any of their three games, despite some good chances created. They remain eighth with just a solitary point. ATK striker Williams meanwhile made history when he scored in the game which was the 1000th goal in ISL history. The win takes them to 1st place tied on six points with Jamshedpur FC; who have a game in hand.
