Jurgen Klopp's red-hot Liverpool gear up to play hosts to Belgian side KRC Genk on Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp cut off a journalist about to pose a question, albeit with good reason. The journalist was building up to his question, stating that Liverpool were about to play a side that has been somewhat of a production line for Europe's top talent in recent times. The journalist proceeded to list out a couple of players to have passed through the Genk setup in recent years, with Kevin De Bruyne, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wilfred Ndidi being on the list. This was when Jurgen Klopp decided to interject. Jurgen Klopp interrupted the journalist to point out that Divock Origi should also be included in that list, considering the Belgian forward is somewhat of a Liverpool legend.

Divock Origi's 'legendary' form for Liverpool

Reds fans would agree with the charismatic German's assessment. Divock Origi's goal against Everton last season propelled him to the spotlight after the Belgian was largely in the shadow of Liverpool's devastating front three. Since then, Origi has gone on to score some very important goals for Jurgen Klopp's side, key among them being the goal that came against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final last season. Liverpool were on the losing side in the first leg, succumbing to a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona at Camp Nou. The second leg at Anfield, however, saw Liverpool come out in full force. With the score tied at 3-3 on aggregate, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold decided to take a quick free-kick, which found Divock Origi, who duly slotted in the decisive goal to put Liverpool through on aggregate. Origi would also go on to score the final goal of the 2018/19 Champions League season when he netted Liverpool's second goal against Tottenham in the final.

This season, Origi has once again proven his credentials as Liverpool's top impact player. Origi scored a delightful brace during the thrilling 5-5 draw in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup against Arsenal. The Belgian's first was a smooth turn and finish from just outside the box, whereas his second was an acrobatic effort that pulled Liverpool level in the game. Club legend or not, Divock Origi will find game time hard to come by as long as the front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah remain fit for the Reds.
