Liverpool win court case against sponsors; Nike deal on the horizon
A London Court ruled in favour of Liverpool in an ongoing contract dispute against kit sponsors New Balance. Liverpool to pen Nike kit contract for next season.

Premier League: Liverpool to sign new £30m-a-year deal with Nike next season
New Balance has been the official sponsors for Liverpool since the start of the 2015-16 Premier League season. The defending European champions were taken to court by their current sponsors over their alleged refusal to honour a reported £40m-a-year deal proposed by New Balance. Under the terms of the current sponsorship contract with Liverpool, New Balance is entitled to renew its sponsorship if it matches any competitor's offer.

But Liverpool claimed that New Balance could not match Nike's five-year deal of £30m-a-year, as far as marketing was concerned. BBC reports claimed that Justice Teare ruled in Liverpool's favour, adding that "the New Balance offer on marketing was less favourable to Liverpool FC than the Nike offer". The court further ruled that Liverpool spent more than £555,000 on the case and ordered that 20 per cent of that sum will be reimbursed by New Balance.
