Manchester United's first-choice keeper, David de Gea, was substituted with an apparent groin injury in Spain's 1-1 draw with Sweden in a UEFA Euro qualifier match that was played at the Friends Arena on October 16. The Spanish keeper's injury prompted instant reactions from netizens across the world, who all rooted for United's second choice keeper, Sergio Romero, stepping up to the challenge that lay ahead.

Support pouring in for Manchester United

One user was in support of Romero, calling him a perfect replacement for De Gea.

Another user posted a tweet that talked about how the Argentinian goalkeeper had the capability to play.

In another tweet, a netizen stated that it was high time that David took some rest to recuperate.

The Red Devils' injury concerns

With De Gea's problem, the Red Devils need to deal with a number of injury issues of senior players such as Paul Pogba, Aaron Wan- Bissaka, Anthony Martial and first-choice left-back, Luke Shaw and if the keeper's injury turns out to be serious then it will cause a problem for United's Norwegian manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as he is set to face league leaders, Liverpool, with a depleted squad on October 20 at Old Trafford.
