Manchester United: Evra in talks to take up coaching role at the club

Former Manchester United star has confirmed he remains in talks with the club to join in a coaching capacity but insists nothing is official as of now.

Patrice Evra has recently revealed on MNF (Sky Sports) that he remains in talks with Manchester United for a sensational return to the club in a coaching role. Evra, 38, who retired earlier in the summer made over 300 appearances for United between 2006-14 before moving to Juventus in Serie A.

Manchester United: Patrice Evra's career in a nutshell

Primarily playing as a left-back, Evra joined Manchester United from AS Monaco in 2006 and won five Premier League titles and one Champions League title among a host of other trophies in a successful spell for the club and the player alike. He was part of the famous backline for Manchester United along with Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. Later, he had another successful stint with Juventus, where he added two more league titles to his trophy cabinet. Since leaving Juventus, he has represented Marseille and West Ham United before retiring. 

Since his retirement, Evra has been very vocal on social media about United's recent struggles. He has also been back at the club's training ground at Carrington to earn his coaching badges. He has been spotted with United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at a number of matches alongside former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Speaking to Sky Sports UK, Evra revealed his plans to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's backroom staff in a coaching capacity after having positive talks with Ed Woodward. Though nothing has been official as of yet Evra stressed on the fact that talks are ongoing but he is not involved with the club in any capacity as of now.

He further added that he would like to succeed at United as a coach just as he did as a player. Evra also insisted he would be willing to do everything in his powers to get the club back to where it belongs.
