Reportedly, Manchester United held talks with Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder, Christian Eriksen, over a potential £42 million switch in the January transfer window. Erikson's current contract with Tottenham will get expired at the end of 2019-20 season, which means that he could join the Red Devils on a free transfer but Pochettino's team is staring at their last chance of not letting the midfielder leave for free in the January transfer window.

Eriksen to Manchester United?

According to reports, Real Madrid recently ended their interest in pursuing Eriksen and that has made the midfielder look for other options and one of them is Manchester United and it has been said that United held talks with Christian in the month of October.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Eriksen one of his top targets as he feels the player would be a perfect partner for Paul Pogba in the midfield, an area that Manchester United sorely needs to improve.

Pochettino defends Christian Eriksen

Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, recently backed Eriksen after the midfielder was subject to criticism for his performances this particular season. Mauricio defended the midfielder by stating that there was no difference in his performance when they signed him five and a half years ago.

He further added that Christian's commitment to the team is still the same and added that probably payers running in the final year of their contract show more commitment as compared to the players who have a few more years left on their contract.
Christian Eriksen may be the missing piece to complete Manchester United's midfield as the Red Devils have made their worst start to a season in the Premier League era, having won 3, drawing 4, losing 4 in a total of 11 matches they have played so far.
