1. Ending Arsenal's trophy blues 

Ozil moved to Arsenal in 2013 after a successful spell at Real Madrid. However, the transfer was a very big step for the Gunners, who had failed to clinch a trophy since 2005. In Ozil's first season in London, the German broke the deadlock for Arsene Wenger's team. Ozil found the net once and provided two assists in Arsenal's FA Cup triumph and also played a vital role in their 3-2 comeback against Hull City in the final, sealing Arsenal's first trophy in nine years.

2. Equalling Thierry Henry's assist record in 2015-16

Over the years, Ozil has earned the reputation as the king of assists, and he stood up to his name in the 2015-16 season. He bagged 20 assists in the Premier League that year and matched Arsenal's legend Theirry Henry's record of 20 assists from his 2002-03 season. Ozil was named Arsenal's Player of the Season that year.

3. Starting Every Game for Germany in the 2014 World Cup

Germany were at their peak in the 2014 World Cup and went ahead to win the biggest title in football for the first time since 1990. Ozil carried his side to the quarter-finals after scoring the winner against Algeria, which looked like Germany's most difficult game of the tournament. Joachim Low's side then thrashed Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals, before cruising past Argentina in the final to win the 2014 World Cup.
