On this day - 9th June - in 2019, hosts Portugal beat Netherlands 1-0 in the inaugural UEFA Nations League final.

The reigning European champions claimed the title on home soil, with Goncalo Guedes scoring the solitary goal at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.

After the final whistle, Portugal head coach Fernando Santos said: "Becoming the first champions is something that will last forever in history. It's a joy for us. It's a joy for the Portuguese people to win the inaugural edition. It will stay in history."

Portugal's title defence is scheduled to get underway in September 2020, although they will face a tough test in trying to qualify from a group that includes world champions France, 2018 World Cup runners up Croatia and Sweden.
