Premier League: Southampton vs Chelsea player ratings, match details

Frank Lampard's quest to gather a team worth fighting for seems to be falling in place. Chelsea's youngsters have found the momentum in the right time and are delivering when needed in the Premier League. Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount are leading the pack with a goal in mostly every match to take Chelsea out of their transfer-ban blues. The Blues travelled to St. Marry's Stadium to play their matchday 8 Premier League fixture against Southampton. They emerged victorious against the Saints with a 4-1 away win.

  

Tammy Abraham opened Chelsea's account with a surprising goal which was allowed by the goal-line technology. Mason Mount extended the lead to make it 0-2 for the visitors before 30 minutes of the first half. Southampton's Danny Ings slotted one home but Chelsea's N'Golo Kante reclaimed the two-goal lead in the 40th minute. Substitute Michy Batshuayi also got on the scoreboard after a late 89-minute goal.

It looked like a comfortable win for Chelsea, who displayed a strong performance in all areas on the pitch. Ralph Hasenhüttl's side did create some chances but had no answers against the young force of Lampard. Chelsea moved to the fifth position after the win and Southampton dropped to the 17th spot with three back-to-back losses.
