Arsenal manager Unai Emery recently revealed to a leading media daily in the UK that the club wanted to sign Liverpool's midfielder Fabinho during the manager's first summer transfer. According to reports, the former PSG manager was very keen about getting hold of Fabinho from the time he was in Monaco. Lucas Toreira was brought instead of Fabinho and he enjoyed a good season in London. In a press conference before Arsenal's Europa League match against Vitoria, Emery confirmed that he wanted to sign Fabinho. He further said that he loved the way Fabinho played in France. Unai Emery wanted to sign Fabinho during his PSG days too.
He also expressed that the Brazilian is an example for players like Dani Ceballos that it may take a while to get comfortable in the Premier League. Speaking about their record signing Nicolas Pepe, Emery said that he will need some time to adapt to the Premier League's style of play. Fabinho was rarely included in the teamsheet in the first six months and then he adapted to its style of play at Liverpool. The Gunners' boss showed his trust in Pepe and said that they are ready to be patient with the player. According to him, Arsenal fans have also shown a lot of patience towards the team. Arsenal will next play Vitoria in their Europa League match on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 12:30 AM (IST). The game will take place at the Emirates Stadium.
