Premier League: Dubravka signs new 6-year contract with Newcastle

"I've enjoyed my time here and I'm very glad that I can stay here for another six years," said Martin Dubravka, who signed a new six-year deal with Newcastle.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has recently signed a new six-year deal with the Magpies. Dubravka joined the club in January 2018 on a loan from Sparta Prague. The goalkeeper had a great half-season spell at St James' Park and was initially offered a four-year deal at the end of the 2017-18 season. Martin Dubravka went on to keep 17 clean sheets in 59 Premier League games for Newcastle which seems to be the reason for the extension of his contract till 2025.

Martin Dubravka, in an interview with NUFC TV, revealed that it is an amazing feeling to sign the deal and he feels like the time has flown quickly. He revealed that he has enjoyed his time at Newcastle and he is glad that he will be there for another six years. He further said that he has made great friends during these two years at Newcastle. Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said that Martin Dubravka is a very important player for the Magpies on the pitch and he plays an important role in the dressing room. Bruce explained that Dubravka is a massive part of their plan for the future and it is great news for the team that he has agreed to stay with them for a few years more.

Newcastle are currently on the 18th-spot in the Premier League 2019-20 table with just eight points to their name. They have only managed to win two games out of the nine they have played. Newcastle have only found the net five times this season and have conceded a total of 14 goals. Many football pundits have claimed that Newcastle have the highest possibility of getting relegated this season.
