President Duque will use Bundesliga as reference to allow return of football

Colombian President Ivan Duque says the return of professional football in Germany will be used as a guide for the country's authorities looking to restart the nation's own domestic league.

Germany's Bundesliga is set to become the first major European league to resume play after COVID-19 put a halt to almost all of world sport.

From May 16, Germany's top two divisions will restart in empty stadiums amongst other preventative measures.

Domestic football in Colombia has been suspended since the 13th of March.

The return of domestic football in Colombia is still some time off though.

The Colombian Minister of Sport Ernesto Lucena said on Friday teams won't be allowed to return to individual training until June.
