A rescinded red card rescued Iran from going a man down in their Asia Group A World Cup qualifier against the UAE on Thursday.

It happened in the 59th minute when Iran defender Shojae Khalilzadeh was shown a straight red card for fouling a goalbound Ali Mabkhout in a scoreless match.

But as Khalilzadeh left the pitch, he and Team Mellli were handed a reprieve when the Video Assistant Referee spotted an offside earlier in the move.

Iran stayed at full strength and would prevail 1-0 to remain unbeaten with three victories form three group matches.
