Street artist Akse has repaired the Marcus Rashford mural which was vandalised in the wake of England's penalty shoot-out defeat to Italy in Sunday's Euro 2020 final.

Manchester United and England forward Rashford missed his spot-kick in the 3-2 shoot-out loss, along with Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, and the trio were subsequently targeted with racist abuse on social media.

Rashford's mural was vandalised, but was then covered in hearts and supportive notes during Monday - supportive actions which the 23-year-old said had left him "on the verge of tears."

Rashford had Tweeted he was sorry for missing his penalty and "wished it had gone differently", before he paid tribute to those who had added messages on the mural.
