Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and defender Raphael Varane said on Tuesday that the Blancos are eager to compete in the new format of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, on the eve of facing Valencia on Wednesday for a spot in the final.

The Super Cup's new semi-finals format will then see Barcelona taking on Atletico Madrid on Thursday.

The Spanish Super Cup was always played between the Liga champions and the Copa del Rey winners at the beginning of the season, usually at a neutral venue.

Now, the top two teams in each competition are participating overseas. The Liga is on its winter break.

Barcelona is the most successful club in the Spanish Super Cup with 13 titles, three more than Real Madrid.
