Shakhtar Donetsk vs Dynamo Kyiv: Racism controversy again?
Sunday's Klasychne derby was won by Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0, thanks to the solitary goal by defender Sergey Krivtsov in the 19th minute. But the closing stages of the game was marred with controversy when Dynamo fans directed racist chants at Taison. The Brazilian midfielder responded by kicking the ball into the stands and making vile gestures towards the crowd. While players from both the sides urged those responsible to halt the abuse, referee Mykola Balakin led the teams off the pitch as per UEFA protocol, with Taison and Brazilian compatriot Dentinho in tears.

A message was later read out to the fans and the teams returned to the pitch in the 80th minute and Dynamo players were still seen trying to calm the situation down. But before play resumed Balakin called Taison over and showed him a red card, with the Brazilian – who has played in Ukraine for nearly a decade – looking confused.
