Shanghai Stadium construction restarts as it readies for 2021 Club World Cup final

The construction work resumed at Shanghai Stadium, the venue for the opening match and the final of the new FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament due to be played in China in the summer of 2021 is set to be postponed either until later in 2021, 2022 or 2023, following the postponements of Euro 2020 and Copa America 2020, according to FIFA.

However, Chinese contractor is set to meet the original deadline of the refurbishing work of the 72,000-seat stadium by March, 2021.

China, where the new coronavirus outbreak originated, reported 34 new imported cases while zero new case of domestic transmission on Thursday.
