Sharjah booked their place in the last 16 of the AFC Champions League with a game to spare on Monday, following a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Air Force Club at the Sharjah Stadium in Group B.

Abdulaziz Al Yassi's side fell behind in the 15th minute after goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani could only parry an Ibrahim Bayesh shot and Jefferson Collazos bundled in the loose ball.

Sharjah were gifted an equaliser midway through the opening half when Air Force defender Ali Kadhim slipped at precisely the wrong moment - Khaled Bawazir took full advantage to score his third goal of the competition.

And ten minutes before the break, Sharjah took the lead - Bawazir was involved again and his pass put Salem Saleh in on goal and a thumping volley made it 2-1.

Collazos hit back with his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute, but eight minutes later, Salah matched his effort by heading in from an Ali Mohammed corner.

Sharjah went on to win the game 3-2, taking them on to 11 points from 5 games, and with the other Group B match between Tractor and Pakhtakor ending goalless, Sharjah cannot now be caught at the top.
