Manchester City stepped up training this week before the resumption of the English Premier League season on 17th June, when they host Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola will be reacquainted with an old friend at the Etihad Stadium, with former assistant Mikel Arteta leaving City in December 2019 to take the head coaching role at Arsenal - his former club.

City are the only team that can still mathematically catch league leaders Liverpool, although Jurgen Klopp's side need just two more wins from nine games to seal a first top-flight title since 1990.

Away from the pitch, City will begin their bid to have a two-season Champions League ban overturned on Monday.

UEFA found in February that the club had broken financial fair play rules, leading to the ban and a 30-million Euro ($33.87-million dollar) fine.
