Italian football supporters on Wednesday commented on the new coronavirus outbreak in Italy, as they gathered  for the Lyon vs Juventus Champions League round of 16 opener.

Many of the Juventus supporters who arrived in Lyon had travelled from the club's home city of Turin, located in the affected northern part of Italy.

"We didn't have any problems on the border and also in the stadium. The behaviour of the people here is very good," one Juventus supporter said about the journey to France.

Another Juventus fan said concerns about the virus had not stopped him from visiting.

"In my opinion, I think the television, that the newspapers speak all too much about this problem, I think. But really, the risk is very small for the people," he said.

Italy's death toll from COVID-19, the illness caused by coronavirus, on Wednesday rose to 12.
