After Arsenal's recent meltdown against Crystal Palace where they threw away a two-goal lead, their supporters seemed to have been tipped over the edge. Club captain Granit Xhaka was not the only player to receive criticism from Arsenal fans over the weekend, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also abused by some supporters as he left the ground in his car.

Premier League news: Fans insulting Aubameyang

A video has recently surfaced on Twitter where the 30-year-old forward is seen sitting inside his Lamborghini Aventador surrounded by Arsenal supporters who were hurling abuses at him. Harsh words were seemingly heard for Aubameyang who has been one of the most clinical strikers in the Premier League since his arrival.

As mentioned above, Arsenal's poor defending once again cost them as despite scoring twice within the first 10 minutes, all they could muster was a draw in front of the enraged supporters. They were particularly disappointed with their captain's performance which was evident from the cheers when he was subbed off the game. Granit Xhaka's outburst to the incident where he apparently responded aggressively has caused massive tensions in and out of the club.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has said Xhaka is 'devastated' about the whole situation, while some reports also suggest the club are preparing a counselling session for their captain.

But regardless of what fans think of the Xhaka situation, the anger spilling over to Aubameyang seems very harsh. Since signing from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, Aubameyang has scored 49 goals in 76 games. Aubameyang has enjoyed a superb start to the new season despite Arsenal’s mixed form, scoring eight goals in 12 games and without his goals, this season, Unai Emery's side would be 19th in the Premier League table and battling relegation.

Arsenal have now won just one of their last four Premier League fixtures, dropping four points below fourth-placed Chelsea in the table. And they will need every bit of the Gabonese striker to see them through this tough period.
