Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols passed Willie Mays for fifth place on Major League Baseball's career home run list after hitting No. 661 on Friday night in a 6-2 over the Texas Rangers.

Pujols connected for a solo homer with two outs in the fifth inning off Wes Benjamin to move him past the legendary Mays, then hit No. 662 leading off the seventh for his second of the game to extend the Angels lead to 4-2.

There was a frightening moment for the Angels in the seventh inning when Justin Upton was hit in the head with a pitch from Rangers reliever DeMarcus Evans and collapsed to the ground.

He left the game, but Angels manager Joe Maddon said later that Upton avoided serious injury and is "doing fine".
