STORYLINE:

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored in a shootout Thursday (22 April) to give the Washington Capitals a 1-0 win over the New York Islanders and a one-point lead atop the East Division standings.

The goaltenders both recorded shutouts, with Ilya Samsonov making 26 saves and getting the victory and Semyon Varlamov putting up 28 saves in the loss.

The Islanders dropped into a tie with Pittsburgh for second place, as the Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils, 5-1.
