Golden girl Hima Das enjoys a moment's breather in the Czech Republic, netizens let her know she's earned it

It has been a gold rush for Indian athlete Hima Das as she clinched her fifth gold medal in 18 days as she won the women's 400m race in the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix hosted by the Czech Republic on 20 July. The 19-year-old recorded her season-best timing of 52.09 seconds, announcing her return to the 400m race category.

It has been a gold rush for Indian athlete Hima Das as she clinched her fifth gold medal in 18 days as she won the women's 400m race in the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix hosted by the Czech Republic on 20 July. The 19-year-old recorded her season-best timing of 52.09 seconds, announcing her return to the 400m race category. 

Das has been on a roll in Europe and had already added four gold medals prior to the latest one. She previously completed in the 200m race category and won four medals solely from the category. Her last 400m outing was in the Asian Championship held in Doha where she was forced to retire midway following which Hima marked her comeback to the 400m category in the current tournament and struck gold in the first go.    

After persistently making the nation proud and garnering appreciation from personalities of all walks of life, the young athlete took to Twitter to share a rare moment of her resting and not being on the field training. Enjoying a well-deserved rest, Das is seen appreciating the view of the city of Prague in the Czech Republic where she won her 5th gold.

The 19-year-old beat her previous season-best timing of 52.88 seconds recorded earlier this season. Das dominated the 400m race, although her season-best timing is lower than her career-best timing of 50.79 seconds recorded at the Jakarta Asian Games. She had also missed a chance to participate in the World Championships. 

Nicknamed Dhing Express, Das raced to her first gold medal on July 2 as she dominated the 200m race at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland where she clocked 23.65 seconds to grab the first place on the podium. Her second medal came from the same category at the Kutno Athletics Meet on July 7 in Poland, finishing the race with a time of 23.97 seconds.
