After working with Nickelodeon on ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, John Cena returns to network to host ‘Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?'

16-time WWE World Champion and Hollywood actor John Cena recently added another feather to his cap: game show host! Popular American quiz show ‘Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?’ was recently picked up by Nickelodeon after its successful run with networks ‘Fox’ and ‘Syndication’. As part of the relaunch, John Cena became the new host of the show replacing Jeff Foxworthy who previously hosted 98 episodes for Fox. The Nickelodeon version debuted on 10th June 2019, with the first episode being released as a preview by the channel four days prior to its networks debut. The show features adults testing out their elementary school knowledge. Contestants can win up to $100,000 on the show.

John Cena to host “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader’’

The WWE wrestler, however, is not new to the network. John Cena previously worked with Nickelodeon for a voice role in the animated series ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’. In a recurring role, the wrestler voiced for the character Baron Draxum in the show’s first season. He is all set to reprise his role again as the network already renewed the show for a second season. Upon being announced as a new host by the channel, John Cena expressed his excitement of joining the iconic family quiz game show. Cena also credited his experience in the WWE for helping him prepare for something like this. Later, he went on to compare the popular wrestling conglomerate with the show as they both have similar goals of putting smiles into people's faces.

On the revival by the network:

The game show premiered to much success and appreciation by the fans. After his successful stint as the show’s host, John Cena has several movies slated to be released in the coming months. Among his upcoming releases, the actor will be seen joining the popular street-racing “The Fast and the Furious” franchise next year. After that, the ‘Bumblebee’ actor will also join the ensemble cast of James Gunn’s ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel which is up for a 2021 release.
