Watch NBA chief Adam Silver present replica ring to a Raptors fan

The Raptors' season-opener was an eventful one, to say the least. The Scotiabank Arean was chock full with Raptors fans as they looked to get the 2019-20 season of the NBA underway. But the game against the New Orleans Pelicans wasn't the only thing that the Raptors' fan base was looking forward to.

All around the world, Raptors fans tuned into their TV sets, their laptops, their phones, what have you, to witness a glorious occasion –The championship ring ceremony. The opening night of the Raptors' 25th season in the NBA saw over 20,000 fans flock to the Scotiabank Arena to witness Canada's only NBA team, the Toronto Raptors receive their championship rings. Other 1200-odd fans were outside the home of the Raptors in a nearby public square known as the Jurassic Park to take in the electric atmosphere reverberating across Ontario.

A moment to remember

The 20,000 in attendance on the night were due to receive replicas of the Raptors' stunning championship rings. However, among the 20,000 fans, one particular fan had no idea that he was about to be on the receiving end of special honour. One Raptors fan got NBA commissioner Adam Silver himself to present him with the replica of the Raptor's championship ring. While there was a replica ring in every seat at the Scotiabank Arena that night, one fan was lucky enough to have the NBA commissioner place the ring on the ring finger of his right hand.

The moment will no doubt prove to be the zenith of that fan's NBA experience. The pre-game ring ceremony will also have provided Adam Silver with a break. After a tumultuous two weeks that was engulfed with the controversy surrounding the NBA's China tour, the NBA commissioner looked in high spirits as he presented the fan with the replica ring. The day will prove to be one that the fan will remember for a lifetime, as the Raptors then went on to win their season opener against the Pelicans later on.
