Olympic athletes must make sacrifices to compete in Tokyo Games says Seb Coe

World Athletics president Sebastian Coe said athletes must be prepared to make sacrifices while competing at the Tokyo Summer Olympics during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coe was asked if it was fair for athletes to be asked to arrive in Japan later than they anticipated and have less time to adjust and prepare before competing

He said athletes will need to be understanding in order to be part in an Olympics that will be one of the most challenging in history to hold.

But Coe expressed confidence in the anti-virus measures taken by organisers as he observed an Olympic athletic test event held at Tokyo's National Stadium on Sunday with ten to go until the scheduled opening ceremonies.

The in Japan to have less adjusting time in Japan than usual Olympics games, Coe said that the Tokyo Olympics would be the games in which athletes have to make some sacrifices.
