At just the age of 25, athlete Neeraj Chopra has achieved what others could only think of. The brilliant sportsman aced it again at his first World Athletics Championship by winning gold in javelin throw with a phenomenal attempt of 88.17m at the 2023 edition on Sunday night in Budapest, Hungary.

Neeraj Chopra started the Monday night final with a foul throw on his first try. He quickly recovered, though, and on his second attempt which ended up being the greatest throw of the competition effort. He gave an outstanding effort in his 2nd throw and extended his lead on the table with a fantastic distance of 88.17m.

The young man has proved his mettle yet again and achieved the glory that the others could only wonder of during his age. Undoubtedly, the champion athlete has completed a full circle with his first World Championship golden medal, which was the only laurel that was left in his lustrous deck.

Chopra and laurels

The golden boy of India is the current Olympic champion and the first sportsman from India to clinch a gold medal at the games in athletics (field events). Adding to his beautiful library of medals, now he secured a gold medal at the World Athletics Championship too. As of now, the only silver medal that he won in 2022 was India's best return from the World Athletics Championship after Anju Bobby George's bronze medal in the women's long jump in 2003 at Paris.

Not only this, Chopra also has an Asian Games gold medal and a Commonwealth Games gold medal in his collection and is a Diamond League champion too. This doesn't stop over here since he also has won the gold medal at the U20 World Championship and has completed a full circle with absolute success.

Neeraj Chopra joins Abhinav Bindra

He is the second Indian now after the champion shooter Abhinav Bindra, to continuously win the Olympics and World Championships. He won the title of World Championships when he was 23 and the Olympics gold at 25.
