PKL 2019: Tamil Thalaivas vs U Mumba match result, highlights

On Monday, September 30, U Mumba defeated Tamil Thalaivas 32-36 in PKL 2019. The match was held at Tau Devilal Sports Complex, Panchkula (20:30 IST). U Mumba needed to win this match to take a step closer towards qualifying for the playoffs. With this win, U Mumba moved up to the fourth position on the PKL points table, effectively knocking out Gujurat Fortunegiants and Patna Pirates out of the race for playoffs.

Throughout the first half, U Mumba and Tamil Thalaivas were neck-to-neck, trying to establish an early lead. V. Ajith Kumar of Tamil Thalaivas and Abhishek Singh of U Mumba were the star raiders of the night as they both had Super 10s. However, U Mumba’s defence was lacking, relying solely on Singh and Athul MS to pick up raid points. With two minutes left for the first half, U Mumba earned their first raid point by tackling the Raid Machine Rahul Chaudhari. The first half ended with U Mumba leading by four points (15-11).

Sandeep Narwal’s level-headedness dominated the second half. His skill, coupled with strategy, led U Mumba to this victory. Even Sultan Fazel, who committed a few errors, was back in the game in its later stages. With 12 minutes left to go in the second half, Atrachali hauled Chaudhari off the mat in what looked like a Herculean task. Singh has also slowly mastered the running hand touch, scoring ten raid points. Ajith Kumar also picked up an impressive 16 raid points throughout the game.
