Reds Akiyama wants to speed up MLB improvement after first practice game

Cincinnati Reds rookie Japanese outfielder Shogo Akiyama said on Wednesday he wants to show good results as soon as possible after he went 0-for-2 with two struck outs in the intrasquad game

Cincinnati Reds rookie Japanese outfielder Shogo Akiyama said on Wednesday he wants to show good results as soon as possible after he went 0-for-2 with two struck outs in the intrasquad game.

Speaking at Reds summer camp,  Akiyama, who in the offseason became the first ever Japanese player to sign with the Reds, also said   "I felt that my batting is still a bit off, so I think I need to adjust it as soon as possible."

The revised campaign will feature 60 games and the regular season is scheduled to begin on 23rd July.
