Former double champion Conor McGregor is eyeing his UFC return on January 18, 2020, and he has already thrown a lot of names at the fans who are expected to welcome him in his UFC return. The Irish Superstar wanted to fight the winner of BMF title before going against the winner of Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov but nothing has been finalised. However, it seems that Donald Cerrone, the man with most finishes in UFC history, is finally lined up against Conor McGregor for his UFC return and McGregor’s manager Audi Attar has reportedly said that negotiations are underway for the fight.
The megafight between two UFC veterans is yet not confirmed by the promotion but Conor McGregor’s manager has confirmed that McGregor is interested in the fight and the paperwork is already in process. After facing a crushing defeat against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, Conor McGregor stayed out of the sport for a while but he kept on hinting the fans about his return on many occasions. Donald Cerrone’s name popped up among them but it never went to this far, until now.
“We’ve met them, we’re in close communication with them. I would hope that an announcement could happen in the coming weeks, but at the end of the day, it’s still a work in progress,” said Audi Attar (McGregor’s manager) in an interview.
Audi Attar also believes that Conor McGregor needs to stay active in the sport for getting back in the winning track. According to him, when McGregor was dominating the sport he was active, and he was not fighting just once in a year.
The Cowboy has faced two back to back TKO losses in last fights against Tony Ferguson and Justin Gatheje which has snapped him out of the top 10 spot in the lightweight division. However, he is still one of the best fighters in the promotion with most UFC wins. Take a look at Donald Cerrone in action.
