The Indian Women's Rugby team created history as they won their first ever International 15s with a 21-19 victory over Singapore on Saturday to finish third in the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship Division 1.

It was India’s scrum-half Sumitra Nayak who handed a close win for her side in the dying minutes of the game after kicking a penalty. Meanwhile, despite having three minutes to shift the momentum in their favour, Singapore could not capitalize as India ran the ball into touch to complete the victory.

India started dominating from the beginning, riding on Sweety Kumari's two first-half tries. However, Singapore bounced back with two tries as India needed a third try to make a comeback with a 15-2 scoreline. It was Annabel Woo Xui Ni who scored the game's second try as Singapore took the lead. Sumitra Nayak then went on to convert the second half penalty as India emerged triumphant.

Here's how India's victory was celebrated on Twitter.

Asia Rugby came forward and wrote 'WOW! History is made as @RugbyIndia women record their first-ever 15s international victory with a 21-19 victory against Singapore! Emotional scenes'.

They had also posted a video of an emotional moment after India's convincing win.

Even the World Rugby came forward to congratulate Indian Women's Rugby Team.
