On the season finale of Tuesday Night SmackDown Live, Kofi Kingston appeared in a backstage segment with Michael Cole talking about his match against Brock Lesnar at next week's Premiere of Friday Night SmackDown. Lesnar challenged Kofi for the Championship last week and Kofi accepted. Kofi has been the WWE Champion since Wrestlemania 35. He last defended his title against Randy Orton at the Clash of Champions PPV earlier this month.

Brock's challenge

On last week's SmackDown, Kofi was celebrating a match he had just won with Xavier Woods and Big E when Brock made a surprise entrance with Paul Heyman. The New Day looked pretty ready for Lesnar but Kofi insisted his teammates to leave as he was not afraid of Lesnar. Lesnar made his way onto the ring and Heyman delivered a trademark speech eventually challenging Kofi for the WWE Championship at the Friday Night SmackDown Premiere on October 4. Kofi stated how he was a courageous champion to the WWE universe and accepted the challenge. Brock had an evil smirk on his face as he approached Kofi for a handshake only to turn it into a lethal F5. 'The Beast Incarnate' left behind a barely conscious Kofi as a sign of his power.

Kofi's Views

Kofi appeared everything but scared on this week's Tuesday Night SmackDown Live. Sitting down for a backstage interview with Michael Cole, Kofi mentioned how he feels that he is at the top of his game. He reaffirmed that he is a fighting WWE champion to the WWE universe and had no issue with accepting Brock's challenge. When asked if he faced any pressure because of his upcoming bout with Brock on next week's SmackDown, Kofi replied that he does feel the pressure of being at the forefront of affairs but does not let it get to him. By the end of the interview, Kofi insisted that he will not let Brock 'have his way' with him and will definitely give the beast a fight to remember.
