Another one of his feuds was with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, to whom he had lost back-to-back matches. It led to a handicap championship match at the Royal Rumble in January 2018. Later, Styles took on Owens, Zayn, John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, and Baron Corbin in a six-pack challenge in March to successfully defend his championship title.

He also started a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura after the latter challenged him at Wrestlemania. At the match held in April 2018, Styles defeated Nakamura to retain the WWE Championship.
