Italy kept their hopes alive by beating Norway 2-1 in the ATP Cup in Perth, Australia on Sunday.

Italy kept their hopes alive by beating Norway 2-1 in the ATP Cup in Perth, Australia on Sunday.

In-form Casper Ruud shocked Italy's number one player Fabio Fognini 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets.

Earlier, Stefano Travaglia had given Italy the lead after a comfortable defeat of Viktor Durasovic 6-1, 6-1.

In the deciding doubles, Italy's experienced duo of Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli to beat the Norwegian combination of Ruud and Durasovic 6-3, 7-6 (3).

Haivng lost the opening tie to Russia, Italy now keep their hopes alive with this 2-1 win over Norway.

Italy will play USA in their final group match while Norway, who beat USA in the first match, will take on Russia on Tuesday.
