Serbia's Filip Krajinovic caused the upset of the day at the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam on Friday in beating number seven seed Andrey Rublev of Russia 7-6(2), 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

An evenly-contested opening set went to a tiebreak and then Krajinovic sprang into action with a run of six unanswered points to take it 7-2.

He broke serve in the opening game of the second and withstood a late Rublev fightback to wrap up the win in an hour and 32 minutes.

Krajinovic's reward is a semi-final showdown with defending champion Gael Monfils - the French number three seed overcame Britain's Dan Evans 7-6(5), 6-2 earlier in the day.
