World number one Novak Djokovic announced a new eight-man tournament on Monday, marking the latest tentative step towards the return of competitive tennis.

The AdriaTour is scheduled to take place between 13th Juna and 5th July in Djokovic's home country of Serbia as well as Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia.

The 17-time Grand Slam winner will be joined by, among others, world No.3 Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, Djokovic's Davis Cup teammate Viktor Troicki and Damir Dzumhur.

It's hoped that spectators will be allowed to attend, if safety protocols can be finalised.

Proceeds from the event have been earmarked for humanitarian projects throughout the Balkan region, including the Novak Djokovic Foundation.

Both the men's and women's tours have been suspended since the begining of March, with the current plan of a resumption set for 1st August.
