The Australian Open will have some difficult decisions to make after Greek tennis player Michail Pervolarakis revealed he has tested positive to coronavirus.

Pervolarakis announced the news on Instagram on Saturday night (13th January) after travelling from Australia to South Africa.

Pervolarakis, who is ranked 461 in the world, did not compete in the Australian Open but represented Greece in the ATP Cup a week ago.

The 24-year-old played against Australia's John Millman and Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta in the round robin tournament at Melbourne Park on Friday February 5th.

Both players are likely to be considered close contacts - and are now playing in the Australian Open.

The news could be a major disruption to the tournament with the potential for dozens of players to be forced into isolation.
