Emma Raducanu's fans cheered her to victory in the US Open final on Saturday night at her former club, Parklangley, in Bromley, London.

The 18 year-old Briton defeated Canada's Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 to claim her maiden grand slam and became the first qualifier - either male or female - to do so in the history of the sport.

She also became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since Virginia Wade's Wimbledon triumph in 1977, some 44 years ago.

Wade, now 76, was watching from the stands at Flushing Meadows.
