World No.4 Dominic Thiem practiced in the Spanish capital on Monday, ahead of his opening match at the ATP 1000 Madrid Open.

The 27 year-old Austrian, seeded three this year and twice a runner-up in Madrid (2017 and 2018), comes into the tournament 'recharged' after recovering from a knee injury.

The 2020 US Open champion, given a bye into round two, will take on either Spain's Pablo Andujar or Marcos Giron of the United States, who both came through qualifying to reach the main draw.
