Just days after she suffered a major loss in US Open tennis final, Serena Williams has quickly managed to go from Tennis to the ramp to present the latest collection of her fashion label which will be known as 'S by Serena.' Serena bought her daughter along for the show. Several celebrities were present in the launch ceremony as well which was held in New York.
The tennis star had several prominent celebrities in attendance like Kim Kardashian, TV presenter Gayle King and Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour. #MeToo founder Tarana Burke was also present and was all praises for the tennis superstar and said that Williams is strong in so many ways and that she will always support her.
The show happened in New York's midtown Manhattan which began with a lush brown trench-style coat, followed by a suit in the same fabric with an odd-shaped wrap skirt followed by pants and sweaters, a stream of dresses which included tops and coats in an animal-style print. The most creative sight on the ramp came when two models wore the same dress together and walked side by side, one was in a plus size clothing, which is seen as an effective stand on the diversity of style.
The tennis star showed that she is a fan of bold prints in colors of purple, bright blue, black and white. Serena also made sure that she is partial to bright colors in one hot pink dress that was part of a midriff pantsuit and part long skirt. “Williams later said that her intention was to show the diversity of all colors and backgrounds of all sizes which were all beautiful women.” Vogue editor Burke praised William's runway for being actually diverse and that she loves Serena adding that fashion is another world for her to rule. She also bought her 2-year-old baby daughter Olympia, whom she carried in her arms as she made her post-show bow wearing a snakeskin-style miniskirt that she herself designed.
