World number one and top seed Ashleigh Barty is through to the final of the Miami Open after a 6-3, 6-3 win over fifth seed Elina Svitolina on Thursday. It was as straightforward as the scoreline suggested. The Australian broke five of Svitolina's nine service games. She produced 27 winners to Svitolina's 11.

The only blemishes? Some inconsistency in first serves. And Barty required a medical timeout between sets to attend to a pre-existing abdominal injury. After taking the Yarra Valley Classic title in February, Barty will be playing in her second final of the year Saturday, where she will meet the winner of Thursday's late match between Bianca Andreescu and Maria Sakkari.
