"We are always open for business"

When asked if CM Punk could ever return to the WWE, Triple H replied subtlely by saying that "That's a ‘could be’. Vince will say it all the time, ‘We’re open for business’. The past is passed, today is today and you never say never in WWE." The statements clearly signified that WWE is open to negotiations with Punk.

His exact role in the company may be something that may depend on their contract. WWE may contract Punk as an in-ring performer or he may be contracted as an on-air personality. Punk recently revealed that he had even auditioned to be a host on WWE's new 'WWE Backstage' show. In a Reddit Ask-me-Anything (AMA), when asked about his WWE return, Punk replied that he would need a huge fee to consider returning to WWE.  Punk's return maybe WWE's quickest road to redemption as their ratings have continued to decline continuously. Rival promotions like All-elite Wrestling (AEW) are also biting in WWE's market share, especially with older fans being tired of the WWE product. Punk was going to sign with the AEW but the talks fell through.

Punk's reasons for leaving included his feeling of being overly pushed by WWE even before he had recovered. Punk was also not satisfied with the creative liberties his character had, the remuneration he received and the company's lack of ideas for anybody other than "John Cena".
