BAN vs SL: Sri Lanka batsman Angelo Mathews has become the first batter in international cricket history to be timed out. During their match against Bangladesh in Delhi, Mathews was given out by the umpire after he failed to come to the crease in three minutes following the dismissal of his teammate Sadeera Samarawickrama.

A batsman is required to be ready to face the ball within two minutes of the fall of a wicket and Matthews was clearly not set. Mathews was given out without facing a ball. This is the first instance of such a dismissal in international cricket. Apparently, there was something wrong with the strap of Mathews' helmet, which caused the delay.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan appealed to the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus, which gave Mathews out. The Sri Lankan batter was seen arguing with the umpire but in vain.
