BCCI announces T20I squad for Afghanistan series, Rohit Sharma returns as captain
A 16-member squad has been announced for the series, which will mark the return of India captain Rohit Sharma and veteran batsman Virat Kohli to the T20I side.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for upcoming India vs Afghanistan T20I series. Afghanistan will travel to India to play a three-match T20I series starting on January 11, 2024 in Mohali, Punjab.

A 16-member squad has been announced for the series, which will mark the return of India captain Rohit Sharma and veteran batsman Virat Kohli to the T20I side for the first time since the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Rohit Sharma has been picked as the captain of the side, while no one has been named his deputy.
Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been picked as the wicketkeepers. KL Rahul has been rested for the series. This is the first time India and Afghanistan will play a bilateral T20I series against each other. Apart from playing in ICC events, India and Afghanistan have played only one Test match in the form of bilateral.
