Despite not having played international cricket for over five years now, former India captain MS Dhoni is still extremely popular at the age of 43. With speculations rife over whether Dhoni would feature in the next IPL or not, there were a few reports yesterday that claimed Chennai Super Kings management has urged the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) to reintroduce the ‘uncapped’ player rule in the cash-rich league so that they can retain Dhoni. A day after the reports of the ‘uncapped’ player rule became public, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has rubbished all the claims that the franchise had made any such request to the Indian board.
What CSK CEO Said…
“I've no idea about it. We've not requested for it. They (the BCCI) have themselves told us that the 'uncapped player rule' may be kept, that's all. They (the BCCI) haven't announced anything as yet. The rules and regulations will be announced by the BCCI,” he told the Times of India.

During IPL 2024, Dhoni carried a leg injury and that was visible. Even after the IPL was over, Dhoni did not officially announce his retirement which has left fans guessing over the future of the 43-year-old.
Dhoni, the BEAST, in IPL
The stalwart has featured in 264 IPL games and has led Chennai to the title on five occasions. His contribution with the bat has been remarkable as well. In 264 games, he has amassed 5243 runs at an average of 39.13. It would now be interesting to see what happens with Dhoni because one understands eventually the decision lies with him. Fans would surely be hoping he features in IPL 2025, somehow.
