Harbhajan Singh highlights major safety concerns for Team India in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025

Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has shown great support for the Men in Blue not visiting Pakistan for the likely February 2025 Champions Trophy. The veteran cricket player underlined that regular attacks in Pakistan make it dangerous even for native people.

India is not expected to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy because of the ongoing security concerns; they have not played there since 2008, when they won the World Twenty20. The BCCI is supposed to propose a hybrid strategy that lets Rohit Sharma and his teammates play their games in the UAE or Sri Lanka.

During an interview with IANS, Harbhajan Singh expressed scepticism about the logic of the Indian cricket team travelling to Pakistan despite fears about their safety. He expressed:

"Bharat kyun jaaye? Pakistan kyun jaaye, bharat?" (Why should the Indian team go to Pakistan?)

"Why should the Indian team go to Pakistan? There is a safety concern in Pakistan. The situation in Pakistan is such that incidents occur almost every day. I don't think it's safe (for the team) to go there. The stance of the BCCI is absolutely correct and nothing is more important than the safety of our players. I support BCCI's stand," he added.

The Asia Cup was held in Pakistan last year, but Sri Lanka hosted Rohit Sharma's squad, who went on to win the title. The Indian cricket team will currently be seen in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. It is important to note that, this is the first-ever project of the new Team India coach, Gautam Gambhir
