Ashish Nehra opens up on the future of Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli

There have been multiple reports that Rohit might consider his T20 future and might opt not to play the shortest format again. The 36 year old has not been in action in the T20 format since India's semifinal exit in the 2021 T20 World Cup. On the other side, Virat looked in solid form in the recently concluded World Cup and has been India's batting backbone. Keeping in mind the T20 World Cup next year, there might be some twists and tweaks. But former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra suggested that both Virat and Rohit should continue to play the shortest format.

While speaking on JioCinema he said, “Virat Kohli is scoring 800 runs, 1000 runs in a calendar year. The way Rohit Sharma is batting, any selector will be tempted. Although they might have a discussion about whether or not Kohli and Rohit want to play the format ‘okay I might not play, I might rest’. Unless they announce their retirement from the format in sometime, I hope that’s not the case. Both Rohit and Virat are good enough to play any format as long as they are scoring runs and having fun.”

It remains to be seen how their future unfolds in the recent future.
