Avesh Khan Urges Gautam Gambhir To Consider Him For The Longest Format Of The Game

As Gambhir is a proven mentor, who is not afraid to bet on fresh faces, the young lot of Indian cricket, who are patiently waiting for a call up are ever excited. Among the players is Avesh Khan, who has previously worked under Gambhir at Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 and 2023. Khan, who has been a regular for India in the limited overs format, particularly in T20s, desires to face the music of Test cricket.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Avesh Khan conveyed his confidence in excelling in the international red-ball format. He emphasized his experience and achievements in domestic cricket, confidently stating that he is capable of bringing that same level of performance to the global arena.

“I’m very excited for Test cricket as I feel it’s a format where I can prove myself, which I’ve done for my state team, India A or while Duleep, Deodhar trophy. I’m waiting for that chance as there’s a different kind of fun playing Test cricket," Avesh said in a video to BCCI.

"I love to bowl with the red ball as I bowl around 20-25 overs in a day for my state team as well. In the entire season, I bowl around 300-350 overs, so I’m looking forward to a chance to play Test cricket and do well for my country in the longest format,” Avesh Khan said ahead of the penultimate match of the Zimbabwe series.
